Graduate Assistant-Multicultural Programming

 
The Graduate Assistant for Multicultural Programming will be responsible for assisting with development, expansion and implementation of new and existing programs within the Office for Inclusive Excellence. This position will also provide support for campus-wide diversity programming in the Office.
 
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
 
Assist with the Development and implementation of Specific Office Programs

·        Assist in the program development, implementation, and expansion of the Black Male Initiative Program
·        Assist in the development, implementation, and expansion of the Diversity Dialogues Series
·        Assist in the planning and implementation of heritage month programming
·        Assist in the creation of assessment materials to evaluate office programs
·        Create marketing material for signature office programs
·        Assist with the development and maintenance of various social media platforms
·        Create weekly list of office events to be distributed to social media office assistant and OIE secretary
·        Assist the Multicultural Student Organization Graduate Assistant in programming efforts
·        Attend OIE programs
·        Make referrals to various campus departments including but not limited to Student Success Coaches, Academic Services, and Student Support

Supervise Jump Start peer mentors
·        Meet 1:1 with each assigned mentor bi-weekly
·        Provide academic and social support to mentors
·        Advise mentors in their mentoring of first year students
·        Provide necessary resource information to mentors and mentees when needed
·        Complete GA/Mentor reports bi-weekly
·        Approve mentor/ mentee forms weekly
·        Communicate with professional staff regarding Jump Start students experiencing difficulties, and report students to the Office of Student Support and offer resources as appropriate


Shared Responsibilities
·        Assist with student recruitment and retention efforts through various office programs and in conjunction with the Office of Admissions
·        Facilitate FYRST seminars and Bus Visit presentations
·        Assist with signature office programs
·        Provide academic & social support
·        Other duties as assigned by professional staff

·        Position requires 17.5 hours per week to be arranged with supervisor
·        Position is part of the Office for Inclusive Excellence and as such will include other duties necessary to ensure the success of major events sponsored by the office
·        Position requires an individual with creativity, organization skills, a willingness to learn, and ability to have fun in the work environment
